[美妝英語] ESL Makeup: Lips

There are so many types of lip products on the market today that it becomes a dizzying experience to read their names in English That's why I'll be covering 8 main types of lip makeup products in English to help everyone better understand international beauty bloggers' videos! One of the most basic lip products every girl has is the lip balm.

These guys are great for keeping your lips healthy and moisturized throughout the day.

Lip balms are usually transparent, so you don’t have to worry about any colour transferring onto your clothes or drinkware.

Next, we have the lip crayon.

Lip crayons are very pigmented, so you can easily wear bright, bold colours on your lips.

The only downside is because most lip crayons are not formulated for long wear, you will experience transfer when wearing this kind of product.

My personal favourite is the tinted lip balm.

Like regular lip balms, they’re designed to moisturize your lips.

The difference is that they do have a little bit of colour, which applies sheer, so you end up with a beautifully natural look.

You’ll still get a bit of transfer though, so be careful if you’re wearing white.

I’ve personally made this mistake several times, so trust me on this! Lipsticks are probably the most iconic lip makeup product of all time.

They can be either sheer or pigmented, so you can either get a little bit of colour on your lips or a lot.

However, lipsticks are notorious for their transfer, so unless you’re trying leave a kiss mark on someone, try to look for long-wear formulas that won’t get everywhere.

Now, moving onto the liquid lip products.

First, we have the lip gloss, which has that shiny finish and can be transparent, sheer, or highly pigmented.

Usually this applies a lot smoother than this… so uh let’s just pretend this didn’t happen.

Anyways, the gloss here is more sheer, so your lips will only be lightly coloured.

Most lip glosses aren’t meant to last for hours and given its sticky texture, you might see some colour transfer as well as having it stuck all over your hair.

There’s also something called gloss stains.

I feel like they’re not as popular as the other products, but they’re unique in that they’re a mix of lip gloss and lip stain.

When you’re wearing this product, you’ll notice that your lips remain slightly coloured from the stain even though your lips are no longer shiny from the gloss.

While the stain part won’t transfer, the gloss can definitely still get on everything.

Okay, so this peel-off lip stain stuff is all the rage right now.

The colour is buildable, so it means that the stain can come out either sheer or very pigmented, depending on what you like.

I personally love this product because it lasts a long time and I don’t have to worry about colour transfer or reapplication.

Not to mention, the whole peeling off a stain part is actually kinda cool.

Last but not least, we have the liquid lipstick.

They’re just as pigmented as regular lipsticks, but the doe-foot applicator gives you a more precise application.

This particular one here uses a long-wear formula, so the colour stays exactly where it’s supposed to.

The only downside is that they tend to be very dry, so you’ll want to apply lip balm on top of your colour.

Okay, so now that we've finished the video, it's pop quiz time! Don't get nervous now, I just want to create a space for everyone to practice their English So really, there's not need to panic because you'll only get better through practice.
